Over the decades, many players have become famous for reaching gaming milestones, helping define the competitive spirit of esports.

1. Jang “Moon” Jae-Ho

In 2009, Warcraft 3 was one of the most exciting games. Many of its tournaments were being won by Jang “Moon” Jae-Ho. Whoever he played against, Moon always seemed to be the winner. As Moon’s fame grew in his native South Korea, so did his bargaining power. Following seven years of consistent performances, Moon was offered a record-breaking contract worth $500,000 with WeMade FOX. After his financial success, esports players the world over would soon command lucrative salaries.

2. Jonathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel

Not long after the Millennium, it became clear that some gamers in the esports industry were gaining celebrity status. One of the first to claim that honor was the American, Jonathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel. Arguably, no other of Fatality’s compatriots have come close to challenging his fame. His road to celebrity status began with an amazing run of winning a streak of ten Quake games. However, Fatality never allowed fame to cloud his judgment.
